The Great Kitchen Remodel of 2012

Our Kitchen remodel is almost complete! There is only a bit of missing hardware and some plumbing rework to do along with buying something to cover our sliding door and perhaps the window. Wow, we began this project last April! We, mainly my husband, did almost all of the work ourselves. But must say I really do love it. I will post details soon because I know how much I used blog posts to think through my design and choices. But for now, I just wanted to invite you in to see the big picture. Come on in :-)

    1. Thank you. I had a hard time choosing but went with the colors I love. Perhaps not everyone will love the blues and aquas but it is lovely to me. I don't plan on selling for a while so I wanted something I could really love!

  2. Wow!! I knew it would be good... but wow!! I LOVE all those cabinets and drawers. Storage... the most useful and most underestimated thing in a kitchen. I wish I had more pull out drawers than those old fashioned cupboards that are just a whole in the wall. I bet you are loving it!! I'm so happy for you (and a little jealous). Great job. ~ Ramona

    1. Thank you !!! I am so glad you like it. It has taken us a while to save up for this. Our youngest graduated from college so that frees up the money to do something for us :-) Drawers are awesome!! I have drawers for pots and pans, drawers for bread or for bowls...even my trashcan is tucked away in a drawer! I worried that I put in too many drawers but I am loving them!

  4. Thanks, yes sure, we will come and spend a few weeks by the beach, while working on your kitchen of course :-) we may need to stay and work for 6 months or so and take a 5 hour lunch everyday to enjoy the ocean:-)

  6. Thank you, well ,most of the work. We worked with a local cabinet company and they built the cabinets, we just put them in. I had help from friend who works at an interior design store who had the idea for the back splash, paint color and such. The counters were installed as well as the big appliances. Floors were professionally refinished, we have done that before and never again! My husband, with some help, did all the electrical, cabinet install, paint, backsplash, dry wall, etc.He is pretty handy like that :-) I was the general contractor, assistant, purchaser, and designer.

  7. As a homeowner, it feels good to do your own home-improvement project. You get to put some of your personal touch on the style and designs. And looking at your nearly finished kitchen, I can tell how much you love it, especially with all the effort that you have put into it. [Althea Tumlin]
